Youth Crew Team

The youth program for Junior and Senior High School students will begin at 3:30p and end at 5:30p. Training will begin and end at the YMCA Monday through Friday. Youth Rowers Must Sign in at the Y Front Desk. The minimum age requirement for youth participants is 6th GRADE.

Our goal is to train on the water as much as possible. Cross training at the YMCA will be the responsibility of the individual rower. Weather conditions will dictate the availability of water training time. There will be coaching staff for the crew team at the YMCA and on the water. The Fall rowing season will begin September 6th for the LEARN TO ROW group and September 8th for RETURNING ROWERS and end November 7th, 2008.

Adult Crew Team

The adult LEARN TO ROW and RETURNING ROWERS program will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30p to 7:15p. The adult practice meeting place will be at the YMCA for the first few practices for the LEARN TO ROW group and then at Evergreen Cove Holistic Learning Center, 770 Port Street, Easton, Maryland.

Our goal is to train on the water four days a week (we ask you to make a commitment to a minimum of 2 practices per week). If weather conditions do not allow for rowing, the practice will be held at the YMCA on the rowing machines. The Fall rowing season will begin September 6th for the LEARN TO ROW group and September 8th for RETURNING ROWERS and end November 7th, 2008. There will be mentorship opportunities to share your rowing and other life experiences with the youth rowers.

General Information

If you are interested in rowing crew, please fill out the application included and mail it to Freedom Rowers, PO Box 3086, Easton, Maryland 21601. Adult rowers may apply on-line at www.freedomrowers.org. Because we need a parent signature, youth members will need to send a hard copy of the application. If there are more applications then positions available, we will notify you as soon as possible.

We request that families of youth and adult rowers make a donation to the team. A donation of $250.00 for youth rowers and $450.00 for adult rowers would help to cover the costs of the program. You can make a check out to Freedom Rowers and bring it to the first day of practice or log onto the web site to use a credit card. If the donation is a financial burden to your family, please contact us and we can make arrangements as needed.
