Thank you for your interest in Freedom Rowers and we look forward to you joining our team! We welcome student-athletes from Junior High and High School who are between the ages of 13 to 18.
Below is some basic information you might need to know about the team and practices. For more details about the team or to download the forms needed to join our program, click on the following links:
Freedom Rowers practices are Tuesday - Friday from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm. All team members are to meet at the back of the Easton YMCA between 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm, where attendance will be taken and daily instructions provided. We will then leave for Evergreen Cover at 3:30 pm sharp.
What do I wear to practice?
For practice wear layers of clothes and running shoes. You might be initially chilly when you arrive to practice but will quickly warm up once we begin training. However, you will get chilly again once the work out is over and you cool down. Arriving to practice in layers will allow you to add and take off workout wear as needed.
How Do I Prepare for the First Day of Practice?
Returning rowers: It is EXPECTED that you will be in shape by the beginning of the season, which means you should be able to row two 2,000 meter segments or run two miles (at less than 10 minutes/mile). To train, ride your bike, swim, run, dance or play!
Learn to row rowers: Start running, biking, sit-ups, push-ups...anything that is fun to get you moving!
What if I need to miss practice?
Also, a friendly reminder that, unless you have missed school due to illness, missing practice is strongly discouraged. Please use Monday afternoon to ensure you accomplish as much of your week’s homework, schedule doctor visits, and train on your own. The entire team is counting on you to be at practice. Rowing is not an individual sport but a team sport.
