Not at all! Rowing is unlike most team sports in that most people have never been in a 60 foot rowing shell. Everyone starts as a “novice” and learns the techniques and skills together under the guidance of our coaches and seasoned rowers. You will gain confidence and experience together as a team, all while having fun!

Dear Coach Alex and Coach Gill,
I just wanted to say thank you for being such a good coach for me for this season and last season. When I first joined Freedom Rowers the team took me under their wing and Freedom Rowers became a huge part of my life and that would not be possible without you and Coach Alex. You and Coach Alex keep practice positive and fun, but with a winning attitude. Freedom Rowers has become more than just a team, it has become a second family for me. This team means more than any other team I have ever been a part of and it would never be like this if it wasn’t for your dedication to the sport and to the program. I know this team take a lot of time but in just the two season that I have been a part of, it has left me with more memories and fun times than I can count. This is all in part because of you and this amazing family that is Freedom Rowers. I can’t wait to have another year with this team and to be a part of this family.
Thanks for everything you do,
-Colby
Chris,
Leaving Freedom Rowers was the hardest part of Erin’s choice to attend another school. You have created such a wonderful team of kids who truly value their relationships with one another, their commitment to the sport and the unique part each of them plays as part of the larger team. Freedom has been such a unique experience, and so so so valuable to Erin's sense of confidence and connectedness. I wish I could bottle it up the Freedom experience and take it with us. Though Erin will continue to row at her new school, nothing will ever be as special as being part of the team you have created and cultivated.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and for all of your hard work with the Freedom team. We are deeply grateful, and yes, we do plan to remain part of the Freedom family!
With love and gratitude,
-Emily and Ron
